The Program

My program begins with a PowerPoint presentation (complete with sound effects) of The Viper, which is probably my best known and most fun book.  I will then show the various steps that go into making a book, from initial writing, rough sketches, editing, book dummies, layout, a bit about the printing process and the finished product.

I will also do a drawing lesson using basic shapes. What animals can you make with a circle and a triangle?  Even the youngest students are very successful with this exercise.

Then there are always a lot of questions and answers.

Please Contact me directly to make arrangements.

"stillspotting" Event

                           April 21

Here's the report from the event: "We had a ball!  The weather was perfect and for each of the 3 performances we had 15 - 20 kids and parents. I think some saw all 3. Yes, we had penny candies - very popular - including rootbeer barrels, Dubble Bubble gum, Smartees and Pixie Stix. Played music from the Beatles 1st album, played Simon Says and Red Light Green Light and after the story, the kids did their own chalk drawings - in all a very nice experience for everyone. Thanks for providing such a rich story for us to embellish with interactive activities!

Sounds like a fabulous day!

And here are photos from the second day of performances.
The kids are even laughing!!!

        Guggenheim Museum Project!

Here's amazing news!  This seems an unlikely turn of events, but I will be working with The Guggenheim on their “still spotting” project.   I will be writing a narrative for children that will be performed on April 21st and May 5th for the museum’s Family Day at Travers Park in Jackson Heights, Queens.  I am writing diary entries that explore a girl's life growing up in the 1960's and the places where she found inner peace - really the journey of finding one's self growing up. The “still spotting” project  finds different places in the city that inspire peace, quietness, “home”and transformation.  I'm so honored to be doing this! http://stillspotting.guggenheim.org/about
